# Connect Wallet

> How to connect your wallet and manage multiple wallets on Tangerine

## Supported Wallet Types

Tangerine uses **Reown AppKit** for wallet connectivity. Any wallet that supports EVM signatures is compatible.

| WalletConnect     | Any mobile wallet supporting WalletConnect v2 |
| Social login      | Google, Apple, GitHub (via embedded wallet)   |
| Email login       | OTP-based (via embedded wallet)               |

## Connecting for the First Time

1. Go to [app.tangerine.exchange](https://app.tangerine.exchange)
2. Click **Connect Wallet** in the top-right corner
3. Select your wallet type from the modal
4. Approve the connection in your wallet

No signature is required just to connect — your wallet only signs when performing actions (deposits, platform setup, key encryption).

## Multi-Wallet Support

Tangerine lets you connect multiple wallets to a single account. This is useful for:

* Separating hot and cold wallets
* Using a hardware wallet for deposits while a software wallet handles trading keys
* Adding a Solana wallet (coming soon) alongside your EVM wallet

To add a second wallet:

1. Open the account menu (top-right)
2. Click **Add Wallet**
3. Connect the additional wallet

All connected wallets appear in your account and can be used to sign platform-specific operations.

## Wallet Used for Key Encryption

When you complete platform setup (e.g. Hyperliquid agent wallet approval), Tangerine asks you to sign a message to derive an **encryption password**. This password is used to encrypt your trading keys in the browser.

The signing wallet for encryption must be the same wallet each session — if you switch wallets, your encrypted keys won't be decryptable until you switch back.

  Tangerine never sends this signature to a server. The encryption/decryption happens entirely in your browser.

## Disconnecting

To disconnect your wallet, open the account menu and click **Disconnect**. This clears the active session but does not delete your encrypted keys — they remain in IndexedDB and will be accessible the next time you connect the same wallet.
