Overview

When you connect your wallet for the first time, Tangerine walks you through a 4-step onboarding wizard to get you set up on your chosen platform. The wizard only runs once per platform. If you skip it, you can always return to complete setup from the platform settings panel.

Step 1 — Choose a Platform

Select which perp DEX you want to trade on first:
  • Hyperliquid — recommended for most users
  • Aster — if you want more token variety or BSC/ETH deposits
  • Lighter — low-latency trading, requires Arbitrum/Base/Avalanche USDC
  • EdgeX — register your account (trading UI coming soon)
You can set up additional platforms later from the platform selector.

Step 2 — Deposit

Fund your account on the chosen platform. The deposit widget pre-fills the correct contract address for your selected chain.
Do not close the app while a deposit is pending. The UI monitors your transaction and automatically advances to the next step when it confirms.
Minimum deposits and supported chains vary by platform — see each platform’s deposit page for details.

Step 3 — Platform Setup

Each platform requires a one-time authorization step so Tangerine can place orders on your behalf:
  • Hyperliquid — approve agent wallet + optional builder fee (~2 signatures)
  • Aster — import your Aster API signer key
  • Lighter — 7-step Schnorr key derivation flow (~3–4 signatures)
  • EdgeX — register via referral link (no key setup yet)

Step 4 — Ready to Trade

Once setup is complete, the wizard drops you into the trading interface with your platform pre-selected and balance visible. From here you can:
  • Open the Trade panel to place your first order
  • Check Portfolio to see your positions and balances
  • Visit Funding Rates to compare rates across platforms
If you ever need to redo setup (e.g. key rotation, new device), go to Settings → Platform → Reset for the relevant platform.
