Overview
This guide walks you through the minimum steps to go from zero to your first trade on Tangerine. We recommend Hyperliquid for most new users — it has the deepest liquidity and the smoothest onboarding.Step 1 — Connect your wallet
Go to app.tangerine.exchange and click Connect Wallet. Tangerine uses Reown AppKit, which supports:- Browser extension wallets (MetaMask, Rabby, etc.)
- WalletConnect (mobile wallets)
- Social login (Google, Apple)
- Email login
You can connect multiple wallets to one Tangerine account. See Connect Wallet for details.
Step 2 — Choose a platform
After connecting, you’ll see the platform selector. Pick Hyperliquid if you’re unsure — it’s the default for good reason. See Supported Platforms for a full comparison.Step 3 — Deposit USDC
Open the Deposit panel and choose your source chain. For Hyperliquid:- Arbitrum — bridge takes ~1 minute, minimum $5 USDC
- HyperEVM — near-instant (~2 seconds) if you already have funds on HyperEVM
Step 4 — Complete platform setup
Each platform requires a one-time setup after your first deposit. For Hyperliquid, Tangerine will ask you to:- Approve an agent wallet — a key Tangerine generates to sign trades on your behalf
- Optionally approve the builder fee (0.1% max)
- Sign once to encrypt your keys in the browser
Step 5 — Trade
Once setup is complete, open the Trade panel:- Search for a market (e.g. BTC-PERP)
- Set your position size and leverage
- Choose Long or Short
- Confirm the order
