What is Aster?

Aster (formerly AsterDEX) is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange with strong multi-chain deposit support. Unlike Hyperliquid which only accepts USDC, Aster accepts native ETH, BNB, USDT, and other tokens directly — making it a convenient choice if you hold assets on Arbitrum, BSC, or Ethereum without wanting to swap first.

Key Characteristics

  • Multi-chain deposits — Arbitrum, BSC, and Ethereum supported
  • Multi-token deposits — native ETH, BNB, USDT, USDC, and more
  • Wide market selection — includes many alt-coin perpetual markets
  • API key auth — uses an Aster-side API signer for order signing

How Tangerine Integrates with Aster

Aster uses an API signer model. You generate a signer address + private key from Aster’s dashboard, then import it into Tangerine. Once imported, Tangerine uses that key to sign all trade orders submitted to Aster. Your main wallet is not involved in trade signing — the API signer key handles everything after setup. The key is encrypted and stored locally in Tangerine the same way Hyperliquid’s agent key is.
You must generate the API signer key from Aster’s dashboard yourself. Tangerine cannot generate it on your behalf. See Aster Setup for step-by-step instructions.

When to Use Aster

Consider Aster when:
  • You hold native ETH or BNB and want to deposit without swapping to USDC first
  • You’re trading a market that’s available on Aster but not on Hyperliquid
  • You want to spread positions across multiple platforms

Deposit

Deposit via Arbitrum, BSC, or Ethereum with multiple token options
